I LOVE WASHINGTON DC! Driving around the outskirts was beautiful the city centre is wonderful, the buildings, the history, the people…………..…, this is a fabulous City.
We took the metro train to Smithsonian Station, with success? We came here to view the Smithsonian museum, not really realizing the magnitude of it. This is not just one building but many large ones. Including; National Museums of… 1.Air and Space, 2.Natural History 3.American Indian 4. Six art Museums, Botanical Garden Building and more. We need a few weeks if not months, Mum you would love this place. We decided to go to the National Museum Of American History was Fab- u- lous? It took up the whole day but was well worth it. The first room we went into exhibited the first Star - Spangled Banner, much bigger than I thought, and a few less stars as had fewer states? Of course they had huge history of presidents and also a lot on slavery and the price of freedom. I loved the “First Ladies” section (although geoff wanted to sprint though it) You had close up view of the gowns the first ladies wore to the inaugural. The detail is amazing Michelle Obama’s dress was there, all only worn once. They had many much loved artifacts such as slippers Judy Garland wore as Dorothy, Abraham Lincolns hat, Kermit the Frog, some steel mangled girder beams from the remains of the twin towers, ……. hundreds of cool exhibits, I could go on but you may get sick of my rambling, if you aren’t already? BON APPETIT! Yes girls I saw Julia Childs real kitchen…….Geoff said who the hell is that, and why do they have a kitchen in here and took off. Men?
As you can see in the photos we also saw Washington Monument WOW, and many beautiful monuments and buildings.
