Thursday 6th May 2010, Washington DC Maryland, East Virginia, Hershey Pennsylvania

Today our destination is Hershey in Pennsylvania. On the way their we went to The National Air and Space Museum in Chantilly west Virginia which is for the huge aircraft that won’t fit in the DC Smithsonian .
Hi it’s Thomas again about planes, and space shuttles. Did you know that the fastest plane was called the Blackbird (Lockheed sr-71) the plane is so fast it takes only 1 hour 5 minutes from Los Angles to Washington DC and the normal time is 5 hours and about 30 minutes? It goes over 3000 km per hour ,This is my favorite coolest plane and dad brought me a version of the same thing . Also the Air France Concord is the fastest passenger plane and it was in the building too. this is the second time I have seen the space shuttle Enterprise this time it looked liked it was new, its height is 175 feet high [54 meters] The National air and space museum was a lot fun.
Bernise back again. A couple of years ago I watched a brilliant program on Discovery Channel about the Lockheed Blackbird, the fasted plane ever built, it is covered in titanium to stop it from melting and painted in a top secret black coating to absorb radar signal and is almost undetectable. I was fascinated by this aircraft but was surprised when I saw it in the flesh, it was smaller than I thought, in fact smaller than the Concord which was also displayed there. I was also surprised that its first flight was in 1964, way way way before I was born??, It’s amazing it’s still the fastest aircraft ever made. Impressive Museum, Impressive aircrafts, clean, tidy Immaculate. These photo’s will not show how impressive everything was, but take a look…

Geoff Here… I got an email saying that there was too much woman stuff (alah first Ladys Dresses and Julia's Kitchen) so today went for hooooorse power and lots of it, this huge purpose built hangar houses 100s of planes a lot of them hung from the roof, it’s like a giant kids bedroom, from the Wright Brothers to the Blackbird to the worlds fist Serious Jet Airliner the Boeing 367, a Concord, the Enola Gay Bomber, Spitfire and heaps of other world war 2 aircraft, Modern supersonic jet fighters a huge aero-space section and …some weird and wacky failed ideas. All restored to better than new condition… definitely boy stuff. Yee-Hah.

  2. glad you guys got into some boy stuff finally - that aircraft museum looks amazing! in fact, it looks similar to the one you are planning to visit in Dayton, just way smaller.
