Wednesday 28th April 2010 Brunswick Georgia - Charleston – Myrtle beach South Carolina.

Wow, what a trip so far. We have been here for over a week now but feels like a month. I decided today that we would go to Myrtle Beach for a two night’s break so looking forward to a whole day of Sun Sea and relaxation, so no travel or fixed activities for a whole day tomorrow, yippee!
On the way to Myrtle Beach we stopped at Charleston’s, Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum to explore the ship USS Yorktown (CV-10) Aircraft Carrier and it’s navel aircraft that ruled the skies? , The kids and I (Bernise) also looked through the USS Clamagore (SS-343) Submarine. I can’t understand how an ordinary human lived in these extraordinary and unimaginable circumstances. There conditions looked hard, cold and grey. The stairwells skinny and steep, the door ways very small, the smell of metal, grease plus very cold gave the feeling of being closed in. NOT my cup of tea?? But a fantastic tour. By the way… for anyone that wants to know, the Yorktown is 888-foot and carried 380 officers , 3,088 enlisted men and an air group of 90 planes. Modifications in 1950s increased her displacement to 41,000.Getting off the main highways to Myrtle Beach showed small town America, very interesting. Well we have arrived so off to relax……….see yah.
